Neighbours
star snaps up Winona's role
First it was Jason and Kylie, now yet another former Neighbours
star is making a splash on the world stage. Radha Mitchell
has signed to be in Woody Allen's latest film, replacing Winona
Ryder - who dropped out due to a scheduling conflict. Mitchell,
who got her break playing Catherine O'Brien on Neighbours
in the mid-1990s, has worked solidly in the US for the past
five years, and was last seen opposite Colin Farrell in the
thriller Phone Booth. She recently finished work on J. M.
Barrie's Neverland opposite Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet and
Tony Scott's new action film Man On Fire, with Denzel Washington
and Christopher Walken. But the 30-year-old's role in the
as-yet-untitled Allen project, which goes into production
in the northern autumn, may be her highest-profile part to
date.
Melbourne-born Mitchell scored the role after Ryder accepted
the lead role in Milos Forman's new film, Embers, which goes
into production in the Czech Republic capital of Prague in
October. Ryder had been in talks with Allen but was forced
to drop out of his new project due to the conflict. Problem-plagued
actor Robert Downey jnr was also forced out of the film last
week when distributor Fox Searchlight declined to cover the
expense of insuring the troubled star, whose ongoing problems
with drugs and alcohol have been well publicised. Allen is
now talking to American Pie star Jason Biggs, who also appears
in the director's current film Anything Else, about replacing
Downey jnr. The pair was in talks at the Venice Film Festival
last week, where they are promoting Anything Else.
Trainspotting star Jonny Lee Miller signed on to the film
last week and American Psycho's Chloe Sevigny is also set
to appear in it.

Miller
working on Woody Allen film
29/08/2003 - 19:21:54
Jonny Lee Miller, the British actor who was once married
to Angelina Jolie, is temporarily returning to America to
join the cast of the new Woody Allen film.
Miller, who co-starred in Trainspotting and recently played
the title role in the BBC miniseries Byron, will join Chloe
Sevigny and fellow Briton Chiwetel Ejiofor in Allen’s
as-yet-untitled project, which is due to shoot this autumn
in New York.
The plot, as is typical of Allen’s projects, is being
kept under wraps.
The film was originally to have starred Robert Downey Jr.
and Winona Ryder, but both pulled out, Downey because of insurance
problems and Ryder because of other commitments.

BE GOOD
'Celibate' Angelina back with ex-hubby Miller
SHE claims to be single and insists she hasn't had sex for
more than a year. But it looks like Hollywood sex-bomb Angelina
Jolie is telling porkies. The Oscar-winning actress has been
dating ex-husband Jonny Lee Miller on the sly for the past
six months.
Her secret was revealed by an aide as the pair made their
first public appearance at the after-show party for Angelina's
new movie, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. "They're
really sweet together," the aide told us. "They
rekindled their relationship six months ago but its very hush-hush.
They spend a lot of time together. "And she didn't rule
out the possibility of them walking down the aisle for a second
time."It's early days yet but she's got a real soft spot
for him so I wouldn't be surprised. Jonny's not like the usual
Hollywood men who chase Angelina. He's almost geeky. "He's
very genuine and that's good for her."
Speaking at the party, 28-year-old Angelina said: "Jonny
is a wonderful guy and I'm happy he's here to support me.
Of course, we are close and I hope it will remain that way."
Inside a cordoned-off area at the old In And Out Club in London's
Piccadilly, the couple spent more than three hours giggling,
touching and whispering, while pals including Sean Pertwee
looked on. If they were trying to keep their romance under
wraps, they were going the wrong way about it.Miller, 30,
star of cult Brit flicks Trainspotting and Love, Honour And
Obey, was constantly by her side, even when she was talking
to other guests. But they went out of their way to avoid being
photographed together and burly minders homed in on anyone
they thought might be trying to take pictures. At times it
seemed like Jonny's displays of affection got too much for
Angelina, who, on more than one occasion, rolled her eyes
and pulled away from him.
Media-shy Jonny, who was engaged to TV actress Lisa Faulkner
before they split last year, was tight-lipped, saying simply:
"I'm having a really good time. It's fun to be here."Whenever
he felt he was being grilled, he nudged Angelina and she deflected
the attention, talking endlessly about her charity work.Back
in November, we revealed that Angelina, who lives in Buckinghamshire
with adopted son Maddox, shared an intimate dinner with Jonny
at London's Claridges hotel.
Our spies caught the couple snogging and giggling like teenagers.
The couple, who met on the set of Hackers, divorced in 1999
after four years of marriage.Angelina soon discovered that
her career was too important to put on the back-burner. "I
wanted to commit to him," she said. "But he deserved
more than I was prepared to give him."Last night, a colleague
of Jonny's said: "Angelina was desperate to get hold
of Jonny when she got to London but he didn't realise quite
how much she wanted to see him. It took him a while to return
her calls."We certainly wish them all the best.

ANGELINA
JOLIE LOVES LIFE AS SINGLE MUM Jul 14 2003
IT was always a bizarre match. The tattoos, the vials of
blood and the explicit sex talk all added up to a madly passionate
but very mad marriage. It ended as suddenly as it had begun,
when Billy Bob walked out after just two years of marriage.
Now Angelina has revealed that following the split she turned
to her ex-husband, British actor Jonny Lee Miller, for comfort
and support.
"We have been spending time together in England,"
she confides. "We are very, very good friends and we
will always be very close."
Now it is just like old times for Tomb Raiders star Angelina
and Jonny, who met when they co-starred in film Hackers in
1995 and were instantly besotted with each other. They married
the following year in a bizarre ceremony at which Angelina
wore a white shirt with his name written on it in her blood.
He wore a black leather outfit and they celebrated by getting
tattoos - for her, the words Bravery and Death and for him,
a coiled serpent. They separated the following year - mainly
because Jonny had had enough of Hollywood and returned to
the UK. Now Angelina says: "We never fought and we never
hurt each other. I wanted to commit to him but he deserved
more than I was prepared to give at that time." They
were divorced in February 1999.
While Angelina went on to have an affair with actor Timothy
Hutton and then married Billy Bob in May 2000, Jonny, too,
had his flings. He had a high-profile relationship with All
Saint Natalie Appleton and his engagement to actress Lisa
Faulkner ended amid rumours that he was once again seeing
Angelina Jolie. Certainly the bond between Angelina and Jonny
remains strong - but she insists insists there is no chance
of another marriage. "I feel sexier out of my marriage,"
she says. "I am much more sensual because I am not somebody
else's wife. "I've found a new peace in my life. I don't
think I'll ever get married again. I don't think I'm meant
for marriage. We're all meant to do different things and I've
found that I love to travel, I love to feel useful and I want
to learn about the world and do good things."
